The “Dom Museum Wien” app (free download) with detailed descriptions of the permanent exhibition can be used in talk-back or voice-over mode for blind and visually impaired people. The language selection also includes Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS). Portrait of Rudolf IV and a section of his precious grave cover have been turned into relief presentations with aid of computers and make ideal touching objects. Accompanying booklets “Simply explained”, designed in large print, are available for free. Inclusive art education programs are aimed at people with different biographical backgrounds and combine art experience with creative activity in the cathedral studio. The workshop series “So Close to the Center” was developed in cooperation with day centers that care for people with dementia. It evokes memories, discovers newness in art and combines both with the here and now.

For blind and visually impaired visitors: exhibits that have been approved by curators are brought into the visitor area so that they can be touched.
Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the ticket office. Seating for visitors is available in the museum. Barrier-free accessible toilets are located in the ticket hall and in the area of the permanent exhibition on the 1st floor, guide dogs are permitted. Free admission for one person accompanying blind or wheelchair-bound visitors.

Observation terrace (at 150 m height) wheelchair-accessible via elevator (max. 3 wheelchairs at once). Special ramps (width: 99 cm, height: 25 cm) to allow wheelchair users to enjoy the view over Vienna. According to the building license, wheelchairs are prohibited on all other floors for safety reasons (escape routes). By way of compensation, wheelchair users can ride to the viewing terrace (150 m) for free.
Central floor (165 m): 25 steps up to the restaurant (170 m), 25 steps down to the café (160 m, not accessible for wheelchair users). Wheelchair users only with escort. No wheelchair-accessible restroom in the tower.

Schloss Esterházy offers a largely barrier-free experience for visitors with limited mobility. The Haydn explosive exhibition is accessible at ground level. Wheelchair users can also visit the Highlights of the Esterházy Palace exhibition – which takes in the world-famous Haydn Hall on the first floor – without any problems. However, due to the layout of the historic building, some prior organization is required.
As a result, we kindly ask you to call the palace before your visit on +43 (0)2682/63004-7600. We will take it from there and make the necessary arrangements.
Barrier-free restroom facilities are available on the first floor (access via Café Maskaron) and on the Beletage (Foyer Empiresaal).
